The Fight for Mental Health Care Coverage
NCP member Meiram Bendat works to change the playing field
by Stephanie Carbone, posted on Oct 25, 2019
Each year an estimated one in five Americans experiences mental illness. Although the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 requires health insurers to provide equal coverage for mental health conditions as they do for medical and surgical care, some families "still have to fight to get the life-saving care their loved ones need," CBS reports.
We are proud of NCP member Meiram Bendat, JD, PhD, MFT, for his success in changing the playing field for mental health coverage. There will be more battles but he has accomplished a great win.
