Warren R. Procci, MD, a long-time resident of Pasadena, California, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the age of 76. Warren was born on Staten Island, New  York to Dr. Waddie and Anita (Veen) Procci spending his early years on Hoyt Avenue and Duncan  Road, Grymes Hill while attending Curtis High School.

Warren graduated summa cum laude from Wagner College on Staten Island in 1968. He was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society prior to graduation from the  University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1972.

While a medical student at the University of Wisconsin, Warren met the love of his life, Linda  Kautza, a nursing student. He and Linda wed the day after their graduation and shared 51 years of marriage. He is also survived by his brother, Chris (Linda) Procci of Pinehurst, North Carolina as well as Staten Island cousins, Virginia Buonviaggio, Damian D’Albero, and David D’Albero.

Following Warren’s residency in Madison, Wisconsin, the couple relocated to Los Angeles,  California in 1974. He received certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and  Neurology in Psychiatry and served as a Board Examiner. Throughout his career and until the time of his passing, Warren maintained a private psychiatric/psychoanalytic practice. He served as President and Dean of the Training School for the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute  (SCPI; now known as New Center for Psychoanalysis (NCP)). He also served in various other capacities for NCP and the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute. From 1989, Warren became an active member or chair of various committees of the American Psychoanalytic Association. From 2002 – 2012, he served as a member of the Executive Committee and as its President from 2010- 2012.

Warren was a tenured Associate Professor of Psychiatry at both the University of Southern  California School of Medicine and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. After 1993, served both USC  and Harbor-UCLA as a Clinical Professor.

In service to Wagner College on Staten Island, Warren was proud to have served as a 20-year Board Member and Chairman of the Board for 10 years. Warren chaired the Board with focus and resiliency during a period of remarkable success that included the more than doubling of the  College’s endowment, the comprehensive renovation of its landmark building, the completion of a major residential living and learning center, and the elevation of the College’s reputation as major innovator in undergraduate education. Warren was honored by the Da Vinci Society in 2016 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Wagner College in 2017.

As world travelers to all seven continents, Warren and Linda often connected with family, friends, and colleagues while attending American or International Psychoanalytic meetings. The duo was known for generously entertaining their friends and family while Warren shared the fruits of his innumerable and diverse passions including his devotion for 48 years of University of Southern  California football, decades’ long LA Philharmonic and extensive Theatre attendance, classic cars enthusiasm or the musing of Robert Parker Tasting Notes over wine from his extensive collection.  Through the years, Warren treasured his canine rescue companions Otto, Ernst, Frederick and currently Theodor.

Arrangements were made with Cabot & Sons Funeral Home in Pasadena, California. It was  Warren’s wish to be cremated; the family held a private memorial as was Warren’s desire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Warren’s honor to the Pasadena Humane Society at pasadenahumane.org.
