There is some important news regarding NCP’s policy regarding Training Analysts and Supervisors.  The Education Committee recently made an amendment to the Supervising Analyst waiver process was approved and is the following:

SA Waiver Amendment
An amendment to the SA waiver process will now include an option for Senior NCP members who are not TA/SAs to take on the role of an SA if they meet all requirements set forth by the TA/SA committee except for certification.

An application is available through the TA/SA Chair, Lynn Kuttnauer.

The SA applicant must be five years post-graduation and be significantly immersed in analytic work post-graduation. It is recommended that the applicant work with a TA/SA mentor to become familiar with this new role. If the applicant is approved by the TA/SA committee, this would be a one-time waiver allowing additional Supervisors to be available to the Clinical Associates. (Guidelines and Criteria are available once a Training applicant is accepted at NCP).

New Supervisor Category:  Associate Supervising Analyst
Early-career analysts who are ‘Certified’ by the American Board of Psychoanalysis but are accruing their hours to meet the immersion criteria.

In this category, those graduate analysts working to complete their requirements for TA/SA appointment may supervise a current Clinical Associate’s third training case under the supervision of an NCP TA/SA.
