January 2023 Board Meeting Summary

posted on Jan 29, 2023

There are two major items the Board is working on for the next few months. One is a discussion concerning our exempt status with the BPPE. As you know, under our current exempt status we cannot accept Research candidates. If we apply to change our status to Approved Non-Accredited, we then would be able to accept Research Candidates into the training program. It is a costly affair and will take much effort and time on the part of program and department chairs and staff. The EC will discuss and a final decision will be made at the February Board meeting. The second focus of the Board is on bylaw changes. A committee is working on making several changes, some not so controversial, others will need to be discussed. A Board retreat is scheduled for February 26 to discuss bylaw changes concerning membership, term limits, and duties and responsibilities of Executive Officers and Dean. A date will be set in March for a call to meet of the membership to discuss and approve these proposed changes. The annual meeting is set for June 15, when bylaws will be presented. Lastly, Myra Pomerantz, head of the Board Nomination Committee, will put together a committee for the search for new positions open on the Board. A recent letter was sent to the membership describing the role of President and Dean and included again here in case you missed it.
