January 2022 Board Meeting Summary

posted on Jan 28, 2022

The Board has scheduled its second retreat for February 27 to discuss leadership succession and recommendations from the Finance Committee. Several Board positions will be open particularly to those members who have an interest in organizational structure and operations of the New Center. A Board position is a good opportunity to be part of a group that makes important decisions about our future. Board Members describe their experience on the Board as broadening their understanding of NCP as a business and its efforts toward becoming a center for psychoanalytic education. If you think you would be interested in a leadership role at NCP, look for upcoming information about openings.

David Thomsen presented his quarterly financial report to the Board. The biggest plus has been the timing of our remodel. We were able to offset much of the costs because of the gains in the market as well as a large donation from one of our members. The COVID situation also pushed our programs to Zoom, enabling us to widen our reach for participants and proving financially to our benefit. Despite these very positive situations, we continue to overspend. The Finance Committee made some recommendations to the Board, which will be items for discussion at future board meetings and at our retreat.

We are looking forward to beginning to use the newly remodeled building. Stay tuned.
