December 2021 President's Message

Meetings, classes, and programs continuing on Zoom, and a building torn apart. Displaced and feeling at times when will it end? One disruption, luckily, did end and what a joy it is. On December 4 we held our holiday party in the NCP garden, where members were able to greet each other in person and see the building. It was a wonderful afternoon as I’m sure you can see by the photos Stephanie has put in this newsletter. The changes to the building were very overdue, including asbestos removal, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and AV technology upgrades, and now we have a 21st century home. I must thank Cecilia for her tireless work in overseeing this project step by step. Interviewing, meeting, and selecting contractors, designers, and materials took lots of time and was no easy task. Her staff worked round the clock to keep everything going with our continued efforts to centralize, digitize, and organize records and accounting. I also want to thank the Board of Directors for their support emotionally and financially for Cecilia and I as we undertook such a major renovation. The first open house at NCP was March 13, 1976 and now 45 years later we have our same beautiful building but with a new look. I look forward to the time when classes and meetings are in our new home.

There is much to be thankful for this year. I hope we will soon all be back in the building. Have a good holiday and Happy New Year.
