Change to our membership dues

posted on Mar 17, 2025

Dear Members of NCP,
We deeply appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to NCP and to
psychoanalysis here in Southern California.
We are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to our membership dues, which
have not been increased for at least a decade. After careful consideration and a
thorough review of our finances and NCP's services and programs, the Board of
Directors has decided to increase the annual membership dues.
Dues for all membership categories will increase by approximately 15% in July 2025.
This adjustment is essential to ensuring we can continue delivering the high-quality
programs and benefits our members expect and deserve. It will also bring us closer to a
balanced budget.

As you know, NCP has faced challenges in our finances for several years, with a net
operating loss of some $400,000-$500,000 each year. This has multiple causes,
including inflation over the last several years. NCP provides more and larger training
programs than other psychoanalytic institutes in Southern California and on the West
Coast. We have entering classes for the APT and CAPT each year. In contrast, many
other institutes only open enrollment every second or third year, and we offer two-year
programs for APP and CAPP. In contrast, most other institutes offer psychoanalytic
psychotherapy programs for only one year and with fewer class hours. We are very
proud of the quality and comprehensiveness of all our training programs, which have a
reputation throughout the region.
NCP additionally offers many regular events, from Clinical Moments, Film & Mind, and
scientific meetings to multiple trainings and workshops throughout the year.
We understand that any increase in dues may be a concern, and we want to assure you
that this decision was not made lightly. Our goal is to provide exceptional value for your
membership, and the additional resources will significantly benefit you and all our
members.
If you have concerns about the effect of increased dues, particularly if your home was
damaged in the recent fires, you can contact the Membership Co-Directors, Cage Hall
and Natalia Boucher. We are here to address any concerns you may have and to
ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in NCP.

Sincerely,
NCP Board of Directors
