April 2022 Board Meeting Summary

posted on May 5, 2022

As we wind down our academic year we are beginning to plan the 2022-2023 calendar. At the meeting this month, I laid out staff changes that we plan to institute as we hire one more full-time person to work with the psychoanalytic and psychotherapy training programs. The reorganization of the staff will not incur additional financial funding. Tina and I and all those interested in joining a marketing team will begin a new drive to focus on promoting psychoanalysis and our educational programs. This effort is long overdue, and we are very excited to see what creative videos and/or programs will be produced. We hope to have a new Executive Director on board by the summer. Cecilia will continue part-time through a transition period. Look for a big bash party for Cecilia in either July or August. The Board also addressed our succession issue. We must look at ways to encourage graduates to become involved in the running of the Center as they are the leaders of the future. We are still looking for someone to be interested in the position of President-Elect to work with me and the new ED in our efforts to streamline our operations and develop strategies that will draw students and mental health professionals to our Center. I feel it is a very exciting time for our organization to make significant changes that will ensure our continued growth. We approved a policy on co-sponsored events that clearly defines the financial breakdown of monies brought in from different programs and fundraising events. We also approved a policy on vaccination and mask requirements for events at NCP. Both proof of vaccination and a mask will be required at all indoor events. Jill Model Barth is working hard on planning the analytic training programs graduation set for June 26. It will be big and I’m sure very meaningful for all those who graduated in the last couple years and didn’t get to publicly celebrate. The adult psychotherapy program will similarly celebrate the graduates from the last three years at an event on June 12. Lastly Cecilia and the governance committee are working to suggest updates to several of our bylaws which is an ongoing process but certainly by next year, we will be ready to present those changes to the membership for discussion and voting.
