Bio/Background:
With a rich academic background that includes studies in English, Art History (visual arts), Judaic Studies, Neuroscience, and Clinical Psychology, as well as advanced training in couples and sex therapy, eating disorders, and addictions, Dr. Diamond brings a multidimensional perspective to her work. Her clinical expertise spans trauma, somatic symptoms, relational dynamics, and a specialized focus on supporting gender-queer children and their families. She also provides clinical consultation and supervision, continually refining her approach through ongoing study and professional engagement. However, Eli’s successful analysis has helped her escape the grip of masochism, consequently she is less invested in committee work, institute engagement, and uncompensated writing and labor. Eli delights in writing books, songs, and poems with her young children, and is awed as she introduces them to the natural and international world. These experiences resonate deeply with her passion for psychoanalysis—helping people construct meaningful narratives and explore their interior landscapes. The reciprocal influence of parenting and psychoanalysis enriches her work, offering a continual exchange of learning and growth. Her vista broadens by seeing the world through her children’s eyes, and by companioning her patients as they uncover insights that deepen their self-expression and understanding. Dr. Diamond’s commitment to community building and creative expression is central to her professional path, culminating in the production of Hungry to be Heard, a film about eating disorders in the Orthodox Jewish community. The film reflects her deep interest in the psyche and embodiment, as well as her dedication to blending psychoanalysis with artistic and social engagement to create healing spaces that extend from the individual to the collective. With a lifelong curiosity and passion for learning, Eli draws inspiration from her global adventures, extensive reading, and creative pursuits, including poetry and dance. In all aspects of her work, she seeks to explore the intricate layers of the human experience, helping others embrace the complexities of their psyches and guiding them toward transformation, vitality, and self-awareness. And she still misses the East Village—it’s one of the places where she truly came to life.
