Bio/Background:

Dr. Karbelnig completed formal psychoanalytic training at the NCP, where he serves as a Supervising and Training Analyst and Senior Faculty. An award-winning teacher, Dr. Karbelnig lectures nationally and internationally, including in Beijing, China; Delhi, India; and Tel Aviv, Israel. He offers courses in object relations theory and the relational turn. A scholar in psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and mental health law and ethics, Dr. Karbelnig has published more than 20 articles in professional journals and 5 chapters in edited volumes. He has written two books: Lover, Exorcist, Critic: Understanding Depth Psychotherapy and The Psychoanalyst As Revolutionary. He founded, serves on the Board of Directors of, and teaches at Rose City Center—a non-profit psychoanalytic psychotherapy clinic serving low-income persons throughout California. Dr. Karbelnig is also Board Certified in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
