Expanded and Revitalized Ego Psychology: The Foundation of an Integrated Psychoanalytic Theory

April 19, 2018, 8:00 - 10:00 PM

Presented by Morris N. Eagle, PhD

Morris Eagle re-engages an abandoned project of contributing to a formulation of psychoanalytic theory as a general theory of mind. He demonstrates that an expanded and revitalized ego psychology is (1) especially suited for this task; (2) best able to integrate relevant findings from other disciplines; and (3) best able to integrate the perspectives of other psychoanalytic “schools.” Material is presented to illustrate the clinical value of this perspective.

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

• Identify a set of findings relevant to understanding ego functioning

• Integrate perspectives from different psychoanalytic “schools”

• Conceptualize different forms of psychopathology and clinical treatment from an ego psychology perspective

Morris N.
