Meet the author and join us in a celebration of the prolific Morris Eagle, whose contributions to psychoanalytic theory have earned the highest awards and have made a profound impact on the field. Dr. Eagle will present an overview of the background and development of the ideas and proposals in his latest book, Toward a Unified Psychoanalytic Theory: Foundation in a Revised and Expanded Ego Psychology. The virtual event will include time for Q&A with the audience, and will also feature discussant Lawrence Friedman, MD, Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine and recipient of APsaA's Sigourney Award, and Eric R. Marcus, MD, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Former Director of Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.

Eagle, PhD, is Professor Emeritus, Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies; Distinguished Educator-in-Residence, California Lutheran University; former President of the Division of Psychoanalysis, American Psychological Association; recipient of Sigourney Award, 2009; and recipient of the New York Attachment Consortium Award: Contribution to interface between attachment theory and psychoanalysis, 2002. He co-chairs (with Linda Goodman) the Research Education Section of the Department of Psychoanalytic Education, American Psychoanalytic Association, as well as the Research Committee of the New Center for Psychoanalysis. His most recent books include Core Concepts of Classical Psychoanalytic Theory: Clinical and Research Evidence and Conceptual Critiques and Core Concepts of Contemporary Psychoanalytic Theory: Clinical and Research Evidence and Conceptual Critiques (Routledge, 2018). He is editor with Christian, C., & Wolitzky, D. L., of Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Conflict (Routledge, 2017). Dr. Eagle is in private practice in Marina del Rey.
