Film and Mind Online: Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths

Join NCP's Film and Mind series online!
Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (2022), from director (and co-writer) Alejandro G. Iñárritu, has been described as a work of docufiction with autobiographical elements. While that may be true for cineasts, for psychoanalysts it is a delightful manifestation of the the mind and preoccupations of the main character, an enviably successful creator as he explores the multi-layered experiences of fame and elitism, colonialism, maturation, love, loss…and creativity. Bardo is, in truth, one of the greatest films that portray the interpenetration of personal reverie with narrative.
