Clinical Moments

Clinical Moments is a monthly series in which a critical clinical moment is an ongoing analytic treatment is presented and followed by group discussion. Each month the program features a different analyst presenting a case, and the group thinks psychoanalytically about the material.
  

Joseph Natterson, MD, PhD will present "A Sudden Blast of Anger."

Joseph Natterson, MD, PhD, is a seasoned psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with many years of experience as a psychotherapist, teacher of psychotherapy, and supervisor of psychotherapists. He is a Training Analyst at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, Emeritus Clinical Professor at UCLA, Emeritus Attending Psychiatrist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Consultant at the Maple Counseling Center. His numerous books and articles deal with dreams, therapists’ subjectivity in the therapeutic process, and love in psychotherapy. Published works include The Loving Self, Psychotherapy as a Mutual Loving Process, and Beyond Countertransference.

 

This informal event typically meets on the first Tuesday evening of each month and is intended for psychology/social work graduate students, psychiatry residents, and mental health professionals interested in the psychoanalytic training programs at the New Center for Psychoanalysis.

 
Please note the following:
  • This meeting takes place on Zoom. Please join us at 7:45 pm. We will divide into break-out rooms for an informal hello and chat. Then at 8pm the presentation will begin. 
  • The presentations typically include clinical case information. Due to the confidentiality of the material presented, we request attendees leave their video ON during the entire presentation so we can monitor who is in attendance. Those with their video off will be removed from the meeting.
