The impact of the COVID-mandated quarantine on the psychoanalytic treatment process will be the focus of this program. The primary adjustment has been the introduction of remote analysis utilizing online treatment. Dr. Bronstein will identify, discuss, and interpret key transference issues encountered in the move to remote analysis. The focus will then shift to issues that emerge upon return to in-person analytic work. These will include reflections on the unconscious meaning of remote treatment and transference issues surfacing on the return to office treatment. The program is intended to provide insights applicable to the personal clinical work of participants through the duration of COVID as well as through future circumstances necessitating remote treatment. Dr. Bronstein will draw on his personal clinical experience as well as the collaborative insights of the Comparative Clinical Methods working party group in North America, where he serves as chair.
The discussion will include a case presentation of appropriate analytic work with discussion by Dr. Bronstein and opportunity for commentary from the audience.

Presenter
Abbot Bronstein, PhD, is a graduate of San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute. He is a training and supervising analyst at SFCP. He is the editor of the Analyst at Work of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis, where is also an associate editor. He is the chair of the Comparative Clinical Methods working party group in North America. He has published and presented over 30 papers and chapters in books.
