Photo of two men and two women sitting on a truck bed.(1h, 51m) "At first glance, you might think that writer/director Sian Heder’s CODA is all about predictable beats you’ve seen countless times before. After all, it tells a pleasantly familiar coming-of-age tale, following a talented small-town girl from modest means with dreams to study music in the big city. There's an idealistic teacher, a winsome crush, moving rehearsal montages, a high-stakes audition, and naturally, a family reluctant about their offspring’s ambitions. Again—and only at first glance—you might think you already know everything about this feel-good recipe.
Caring, boisterous, and adorned with the hugest of hearts, CODA will prove you wrong." --Tomris Laffly, RogerEbert.com

"I have never seen a film fully capture heart, soul, and depth, while also offering an empathetic view from every perspective of their main characters. It captured the weight of responsibility of 17-year-old Ruby who is the only hearing person in a deaf family who runs a fishing business and her role as fisherwoman, advocate, interpreter, and ambassador of communication, while also balancing the challenges of being a teenager in high school who wants to be in love, a singer, and have a potential for a future independent of her family." --online posting in Google audience reviews
