August 2022 Board Meeting Summary

posted on Sep 7, 2022

We are planning a Memorial Event to honor those we have lost over the last three years whom we have not been able to collectively remember and celebrate. Volunteers are needed to help plan this special event. Please contact Cecilia.

A Marketing Team consisting of Amber, Tina, and Stephanie has been formed and now meets regularly to create a new marketing plan.

A few additional property-related renovations will begin this fall: (1) Getting plans and bids for a gate on the parking lot with some additional security measures at the Beloit and Sawtelle entrances, and (2) Assessing the garden and lawns and developing a plan because of the drought and water use restrictions recently mandated by the state.

Ebony Towner will become our new Clinic Administrator. We are currently looking for someone to take over her position as our tech genius.

The Financial review was encouraging. Our continuing education program income increased, and enrollment in our Training Programs is at an all-time high, including six international students from China. Our expenses remain high but we are moving in the right direction. The market, however, is volatile.

Our efforts working the BPPE unfortunately did not move us into a special exempt status. The legislature did not want to make many changes to the current policy. Our task force was disappointed and it makes us worried that the BPPE could change the rules again. The question of whether Research Psychoanalysts will be approved under our current exemption has not yet been decided. The plus is that we have a much more positive relationship with the BPPE and possible alternatives to allow the training of Research Psychoanalysts are being investigated.

A Research Psychoanalyst representative now sits on the Board as an ad hoc member and we are working on a bylaw change so, if passed, they would have a voting position on the Board.

Our incoming ED introduced our new COVID policy, which hopefully all members received a copy of. If you have not received the policy, it is available on the homepage of our website. Changes in the policy will be made if conditions warrant.

The Board will continue to discuss ways for NCP to grow and market ourselves.
