Bio/Background:
Jamey Adam Hecht, PhD, PsyD, LMFT (CA, NY, NJ, TX), is a psychotherapist in private practice in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY, and a Member of the New Center for Psychoanalysis. He trained in Gestalt therapy at The Relational Center, a community mental health and wellness organization. Before studying psychoanalysis he taught poetry and literature at a dozen colleges and universities, publishing in a variety of fields. Jamey Hecht is the author of five books: "Plato’s Symposium: Eros and the Human Predicament" (Twayne, 1999); a translation, "Sophocles’ Three Theban Plays: Antigone, Oedipus the Tyrant, Oedipus at Colonus" (Wordsworth, 2004); "Bloom’s How To Write About Homer" (Chelsea, 2010); and two poetry collections: "Limousine, Midnight Blue" (Red Hen Press, 2009), and "Dodo Feathers: Poems 1989 - 2019" (International Psychoanalytic Books, 2019). His paper on Wilfred Bion (JAPA, Vol. 70 No. 4, 8/2022) won the 2023 New Author's Prize from the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
