Domenico Arturo Nesci, MD (Italian degree)Psychiatrist
Domenico A. Nesci is a psychiatrist, criminologist, psycho-oncologist, and psychoanalyst (International Psychoanalytic Association, Canadian Psychoanalytic Society, Toronto Branch, and Los Angeles NCP). He cares for cancer patients and their relatives at the Fondazione Policlinico "Agostino Gemelli" IRCCS and teaches Community Psychology in the Course for Nursing within the School of Medicine at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in Rome (Italy). He is Co-Director of the Scuola Internazionale di Psicoterapia nel Setting istituzionale (SIPSI) which is a school of psychoanalytic psychotherapy credited by the Italian Dpt. of Research and University (MIUR). He is the President of The International Institute for Psychoanalytic Research and Training of Health Professionals (IIPRTHP) a non profit that was incorporated in Rome, Italy, in 1999. He is the Vice-President of DREAMS onlus, a non profit cooperative of psycho-oncologists and psychotherapists. Dr. Nesci is an expert in Psycho-Oncology, Psychosomatic Medicine, Consultation Liaison-Psychiatry, Prenatal Psychology and Medicine, Political Psychology, and Psycho-History. He is the Author of about 150 scientific papers and several books in Italian, English, French and Chinese. He taught at Stanford (Dpt. of Psychology) and UCLA (Dpt. of Political Science and Dpt. of Psychiatry). For his teaching activities from 1999 to 2001, Dr. Nesci was awarded Distinguished Visiting Professor by the Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association of UCLA. He recently published "Multimedia Psychotherapy: A Psychodynamic Approach for Mourning in the Technological Age (Jason Aronson, 2012) and "Revisiting Jonestown: An Interdisciplinary Study of Cults" (Lexington Books, 2017). He is doing research on new technologies in psychotherapy and also on distance treatments, focusing on Online Psychotherapy for cancer patients and their relatives at the Policlinico "Gemelli" IRCCS in Rome. In September he will start teaching "Online Psychotherapy" at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in Rome (School of Medicine).Back to profile
