Newsfeed > Jill Model Barth, PhD, to Receive APsaA Teaching Award
Dr. Jill Model Barth has been selected to receive one of this year's Edith Sabshin Teaching Awards given by the American Psychoanalytic Association. The Edith Sabshin Teaching Award recognizes members of APsaA who have made outstanding contributions as educators of students who are not candidates.
Teaching non-candidate students is one of the most significant ways in which psychoanalysts contribute to our field, and to education. The late Dr. Edith Sabshin, in whose honor this award is named, was known for her abilities as a "natural" teacher, and was the founding Chair of the Candidates’ Council, predecessor of the current Committee on Student/Resident Associates.
Dr. Barth has been recognized as espousing the virtues of the late Dr. Edith Sabshin by being a superior educator, with a style and commitment to education to which others can aspire. Dr. Barth joins the ranks of other noted NCP members who were recipients of this award, including Peter Loewenberg, Van Dyke DeGolia, Stephanie McEwan, Alan Karbelnig, Richard Tuch, Regina Pally, J. Mark Thompson, and Marvin Osman.
The award will be presented during APsaA's Virtual 2021 National Meeting of Members on Sunday, February 7, from 2:00 – 3:00pm ET.
