Bio/Background:

Aranye Fradenburg Joy, Ph.D., is the Dean of Training at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles and practices as a Research Psychoanalyst in Santa Barbara, CA. She is Professor of English and Comparative Literature Emerita and was one of the founders of the Literature and the Mind Specialization at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is also a Co-Director of the punctum books imprint Brainstorm Books. Her monographs and edited collections include Premodern Sexualities in Europe; Sacrifice Your Love: Chaucer, Historicism, Psychoanalysis; and Staying Alive: A Survival Manual for the Liberal Arts. Her many articles include "Frontline: the Liberal Arts of Psychoanalysis"; "Distributed Cognition in Medieval and Renaissance Literature; "Unlearning: A Duologue," with Eileen A. Joy; "Among All Beasts: Affective Naturalism in Late Medieval Literature": "Going Mental"; "Imagination"; and "Momma's Boys."
