Bio/Background:

I am a Supervising and Training Analyst at NCPand it's former Dean. Also, I am a Research Professor of Sociology at UCLA, and former Interim Chair of Information Studies at UCLA. I write and publish at the intersection of Psychoanalysis and the Social World. I am the author of Presenting the Past, Psychoanalysis and the Sociology of Misremembering (1998 Harvard University Press), and Co-Editor of the Routledge Handbook of Psychoanalysis in the Social Sciences and the Humanities, 2017. I have written many articles on psychoanalytic insights on how best to repair Trauma and PTSD especially as they impactwhole societies in South Africa, China and in the United States. I have published and spoken on American racism from a social-psychological/psychoanalytic perspective. My clinical practice brings to bear many of these psych-social issues as we work to ease pain, suffering and anxiety in everyday social life. I work with those affected by white supremacist societies and cultures. And I treat extensively those with a creative bent: writers, musicians, artists, and those within the entertainment industry's sphere of operations.
