SUMMARY:Reflective Parenting Program (RPP) Level 1: Fundamentals Training
  - Reflective Parenting Program (RPP) Level 1: Fundamentals Training
DESCRIPTION: \n\nReflective Parenting Program Level 1 Training: Fundamen
tals\n\nThis 12-hour intensive Level 1 training is designed for infant m
ental health and early childhood specialists. Participants will learn ab
out a new approach to early intervention with parents based on a theoret
ical model of cognitive and emotional development emphasizing reflective
functioning or parental mentalization. This essential processing mechan
ism enables parents to understand that mental activity such as thoughts,
feelings, needs, intentions, and desires (within both their children an
d themselves), which are not directly observable, underlie all human beh
avior. The ability to understand and respond to children’s behavior in
terms of the mental states that motivate it is essential for strong par
ent-child bonds (i.e. secure attachment). \n\nThe training provides part
icipants with a base of knowledge, a new way to work with the central is
sues in parent-child relationships, and a step-by-step method that can b
e utilized to help parents think about their children in a more reflecti
ve way. Parents are thereby supported to resist the temptation to seek q
uick or non-reflective behavioral solutions to the conflicts or problems
they experience in relationship with their children.\n\nDates:\n\nFebru
 ary 5 & 12, 2021: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM\n\nFebruary 6 & 13, 2021: 10:00 AM

course, participants should be able to:\n\n* Discuss attachment research
and theory, psychoanalytic developmental theory, and the importance of
the concept of parental reflective functioning.\n\n* Use examples of spe
cific attachment patterns to learn how to tailor effective interventions
