 Drs. Hart and Stoute's Zoom visit with us titled "Otherness as a Psychoa
 nalytic Subject: Race, Culture, Class, and Difference in the Clinical En
 counter.\n\nAttending to issues of racial difference and discrimination 
 presents many challenges and opportunities for the psychoanalytic traini
 ng process. In this workshop for faculty we will consider the possibilit
 ies and the risks associated with explicitly attending to race. What are
  the risks? What might the possibilities be? We will focus on opportunit
 ies and risks in the classroom and in psychoanalytic supervision. In cul
 tivating curiosity and openness about racial difference, how can we iden
 tify the entry points to greater psychoanalytic understanding on the par
 ts of supervisor and supervisee, and teacher and student alike?\n\nLearn
 ing Objectives\nAs a result of attending this session, participants shou
 ld be able to:\n\n* Identify the risks associated with addressing issues
  of race in the psychoanalytic classroom and supervisory relationship.\n
 \n* List three ways of initiating dialogue about race and racial differe
 nce.\n\n* Identify and manage the attendant anxieties associated with ad

 \nBeverly J. Stoute, M.D., FABP, FAPA\n\nDr. Stoute, a Child, Adolescent
  and Adult Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst serves as the President of the
  Atlanta Psychoanalytic Society, a Training and Supervising Analyst at t
 he Emory University Psychoanalytic Institute, a Child and Adolescent Sup
 ervising Analyst and graduate of The New York Psychoanalytic Institute, 
 on the faculties of the Southeast Child Analytic Consortium, the adjunct
  faculties of the Emory University School of Medicine, and the Morehouse
  School of Medicine, the editorial boards of theÂ Psychoanalytic Study o
 f the Child, andÂ Journal of the American Psychoanalytic AssociationÂ (b
 eginning 2021), the Advisory Council of theÂ  Harlem Family Institute, a
 nd is a member of Black Psychoanalysts Speak. She is a nationally recogn
 ized speaker, author, and consultant on issues of race, racism, diversit
 y, the development of race awareness, and psychoanalytic applications in
  the treatment of seriously disturbed children and adolescents. Her full
 -time private practice of child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry and ps
 ychoanalysis includes a wide range of clinical modalities and broad rang
 e of clinical issues including psychopharmacology, individual psychother
 apy, couples and family psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, parent guidance,

 ng Analyst on the Faculty of the William Alanson White Institute in New 
 York City. He supervises at the Derner Institute of Adelphi University. 
 He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the journalsÂ Psychoanalytic P
 sychologyÂ andÂ Contemporary Psychoanalysis. He is a Member of Black Psy
 choanalysts Speak. He teaches in the Department of Psychology at Mt. Sin
 ai Hospital, at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, the Clevel
 and Psychoanalytic Center, the National Institute for the Psychotherapie
 s National Program, the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, and the Insti
 tute for Relational Psychoanalysis of Philadelphia.Â He serves as Chair 
 of the Diversities Section of the American Psychoanalytic Associationâ€™
 s Department of Psychoanalytic Education. He is in full-time private pra
