Bong Joon Ho’s 2025 black comedy, the follow-up film to his 2020 multi-Oscar winner Parasite, follows Mickey Barnes, an “expendable” worker on a space colonization mission. Mickey is cloned and regenerated each time he dies. The film explores identity, self-worth, class inequality, dehumanization in capitalism, and what constitutes personhood when multiple versions of the same individual coexist. The film offers a deep space voyage framed by time, desire, and the unconscious, where beauty finds ways to still yet thrive in the face of obscene social authority.
