 ller directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, loosely inspired by Thomas Pyncho
 n’s Vineland. The film follows Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a for
 mer revolutionary living off-grid with his teenage daughter Willa when h
 is past resurfaces. \n\nThemes include intergenerational trauma, parano
 ia, radicalization, political extremism, and the psychological toll of a

 secrets and chronic fear states in children who have not directly experi
 enced social persecution. \n\n* Explain the difference between symptoms
  arising from individual trauma history versus those stemming from group

 ussants: --\n\nDavid James (Jimmy) Fisher, PhD is a Research Psychoanaly
 st with a background in European cultural and intellectual history, spec
 ializing in the history of psychoanalysis, the convergence of cultural h
 istory and critical theory with psychoanalysis, and psychoanalytic appli
 cations to politics, movies, literature, and works of art. He currently
  serves on the NCP Board of Directors representing the Research Psychoan
 alyst’s Committee. He is a Senior Faculty Member at NCP and a TA/SA 
 at ICP. His new book, The Subversive Edge of Psychoanalysis, appeared in
  January 2025 with Routledge. \n\nMark Fisher, MD is Professor of Neuro
 logy at University of California, Irvine where he holds appointments in 
 the Departments of Anatomy & Neurobiology, Political Science, and Pathol
 ogy & Laboratory Medicine.  He established the first stroke program in 
 Southern California while at USC (1980-1998), and at UCI he served as Ch
 air of the Department of Neurology. He has received 40 years of continuo
 us NIH stroke research funding and more than 75 citations of clinical ex
 cellence as a stroke neurologist.  In 2021 he was named Director of the
  newly formed UCI Center for Neuropolitics, and in 2023 he received the 
 UCI School of Medicine Innovation in Mentoring Award.  Dr. Fisher is a 
 member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, trained at the New Ce
 nter for Psychoanalysis (2002-2013), and is Director of the Discussion G
 roup “Neuroscience Perspectives on Psychoanalysis” at meetings of th
 e American Psychoanalytic Association (2015-present).  He has received 
 research funding from the International Psychoanalytic Association for i
 nvestigations of the functional neuroanatomy of free association and is 
 senior author of Consciousness, Cortex, and Neuropsychoanalysis (Journal
  of the American Psychoanalytic Association, 2024). \n\n---------------
