Happy End

June 14, 2019, 7:30 - 10:00 PM

(2017, Germany with English subtitles)

Director Michael Haneke expertly incorporates the many stories of a troubled and unhappy family dealing with personal and social issues in Happy End. After her mother’s death, 13-year-old Eve moves in with her dysfunctional father’s family, following a patriarch dealing with old age and failing health, an aunt trying to keep the family business together, and a distraught cousin who feels he has no place in life. The family deals with life, death, infidelity, and the modern political and social climate, leading to a surprising ending.
