SUMMARY:The Spectrum of Analytic Oneness: Two-in-oneness to at-one-ment â
€“ Theoretical-clinical thoughts and experiences with Dr. Ofra Eshel
DESCRIPTION:This meeting will take place online via Zoom. Once you regis
ter, you will receive an email with the link and more information.\n\n**
 * Registration will close at 4:00 PM the day before the event. No regis
trations are possible after this time.\n\nThe New Center for Psychoanaly
sis is pleased to welcome\n\n-- Dr. Ofra Eshel --\n\nThis presentation,
as well as Dr. Eshel's writings over the years, explores a fundamental d
imension of analytic work created by the analyst/therapist’s “presen
cing” (being there) within the patient’s experiential world and the
grip of the analytic process, and the ensuing deep patient-analyst inter
connectedness or “withnessing” that may grow into at-one-ment with t
he patient’s innermost emotional reality of unthinkable breakdown and
catastrophic psychic trauma (Winnicott and late Bion). This dimension, w
ith its profound ontological implications, engenders markedly new possib
ilities for extending the reach of psychoanalytic treatment to more dist
urbed patients and difficult treatment situations. It goes beyond recent
analytic notions of intersubjectivity and witnessing to more radical pa
tient-analyst deep-level analytic oneness. Dr. Eshel will provide four c
linical examples (Symington, Ogden, and two of her own), and a personal
example by Israeli writer David Grossman, and highlight how withnessing
presence converges with and differs from other ways of profound intercon
nectedness, as described by Ogden, Ferro, Grotstein, Eigen, Botella & Bo
tella’s ”Psychic Figurability,” and de M’Uzan’s “Psychologic
al Chimera.”\n\n \n\nIn Dr. Eshel's view, the ontological experience
of analytic oneness becomes an experience and language of new possibilit
y, especially within states of breakdown, devastation, core deadness, an
d emptiness. It is the place wherein lies the very heart of psychoanalys
is and, she would add, its wonder.\n\n \n\n \n\nAll times are PACIFIC

intersubjectivity and the analyst’s experience of “presencing” and
“withnessing”\n\n* Explain the spectrum of analytic oneness, spanni
ng the various ways of patient-analyst deep interconnectedness described

urability,” and de M’Uzan’s “Psychological Chimera”\n\n* Discu
ss the critical question: To what extent is the analyst willing and able
