Years of dedication produce the skills a clinician aspires to bring to the community. However, there is a bridge to cross between education and the business of independent practice. Graduate education often does not provide the multiple skills needed to develop, maintain and grow a successful practice in psychotherapy and/or psychoanalysis. This seminar will enable the dedicated clinician to practice in a manner that will be sustainable for both the professional and the patient/client/consumer.
Learning Objectives
· Responsibilities and ethics related to private practice
· Develop a practice identity within a community
· Define a practice population
· Assess a sustainable practice plan
· Outline personal life management and self-care skills that promote a therapeutic stance to protect the professional and the patient/client/consumer
· Insurance options to protect the professional and the patient/client/consumer
Moderator: Daniel E. Fast, M.D.
Format: Five Wednesday evening seminars, 7:30 - 9 PM at the New Center for Psychoanalysis. There will be presentation by experienced professionals as well as plenty of time for discussion of relevant issues by those attending.
