Mission
The mission of the New Center for Psychonanalysis Foundation is to bring psychoanalytic ideas into the community.
Goal
The Foundation goal is to develop and support programs that utilize psychoanalytic ideas in community settings. The types of programs will include educational workshops, in-service training, supervision, consultation, and direct treatment services. We plan to raise money in order to provide funding for these types of projects. The main focus of our projects will be lower socioeconomic groups, but will not be limited to these.
History
The history of the Foundation began in 2000. It was initially called The Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Foundation and was a free standing non-profit corporation. When the New Center for Psychoanalysis formed in 2005 (from the recent merger of the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and the Southern California Psychoanalytic Society and Institute), the Foundation was taken under its wing.
The Foundation will operate as one of the 'centers' of the overall organization. Its new name is The Psychoanalytic Foundation of the New Center for Psychoanalysis..'The Psychoanalytic Foundation' for short. Since 2000 we have accomplished many projects (see below). In the past however we operated on a small level. Now we are poised to grow and branch out further.
